Software engineering · Riemerling, Germany

We quote in weeks, not adjectives.

Most software firms will tell you a project takes "a few months" and leave the rest to the proposal. We'd rather put the arithmetic on the table first. Set three parameters below and you'll have an order of magnitude before you've spoken to anyone.

01 / Estimate

Scope calculator

Three parameters, one indicative duration. It's deliberately coarse — an order of magnitude to start the conversation, never a substitute for a proper quote.

01 — What are we building?

02 — How far does it go?

03 — Design starting point

Indicative duration

Weeks, end to end

Pick one option in each row.

Calculated in your browser from typical ranges. Nothing is recorded or sent. Real numbers follow a scoping call, where your constraints usually move them in one direction or the other.

    02 / Services

    Six disciplines

Not a catalogue of everything possible — the areas we've shipped in repeatedly and are willing to be measured on.

    /01

    Mobile applications

Native iOS and Android, plus React Native and Flutter where a shared codebase genuinely serves the product rather than just the estimate.

    /02

    Web platforms

Dashboards, customer portals and SaaS products on React, Next.js and Node — tuned to stay quick on an average phone, not just a developer's machine.

    /03

    Product design

Research, clickable prototypes and design systems that keep their logic once a few years of features have piled on top.

    /04

    Backend & cloud

APIs, data models and infrastructure on AWS or Azure, scaled to the traffic you expect — with a written plan for the traffic you don't.

    /05

    Integrations & automation

Payments, ERP, CRM and logistics systems wired together properly, plus automation for the manual steps your team keeps repeating.

    /06

    Maintenance

CI/CD, monitoring and a named engineer who picks up when something breaks outside office hours.

    03 / Sectors

    Where the hours went

Each sector carries its own constraints — regulation, uptime, seasonal load. Knowing them upfront is most of an honest estimate.

    Mittelstand

    Internal tools that replace spreadsheets

    Logistics

    Fleet visibility and route planning

    Manufacturing

    Production tracking and shop-floor tooling

    Retail

    Storefronts, loyalty and stock synchronisation

    04 / Process

    Four phases

The same sequence on every engagement — the one the calculator above splits your weeks across.

    Phase 01

    Scope

We map users, constraints and risks, then write down what's in and what is explicitly out before any code exists.

    Phase 02

    Design

Sketches become clickable prototypes and get tested while changing direction still costs nothing.

    Phase 03

    Build

Two-week sprints, a live demo at the end of each, automated tests running the whole way through.

    Phase 04

    Release

Store submission or production deployment, analytics connected, then iteration based on real usage.

    05 / Firm

    Small by design

Schimanski GmbH is a software engineering firm based in Riemerling, just south of Munich. We work with founders and in-house teams who want the people writing the code to also understand why it's being written.

Staying small is a constraint we chose, not a phase we're trying to outgrow. Every project gets senior attention, decisions take hours rather than weeks, and nobody is learning your domain at your expense.

It also means we turn work down when it isn't a fit. You'll hear that on the first call rather than three sprints in — which is the same reason the estimate above is public rather than buried in a proposal.

    • The team you meet is the team that builds it

No swapping in juniors once the contract is signed.

    • Estimates we stand behind

If something will take longer than we said, you hear it at the weekly demo — not on the final invoice.

    • Code you own outright

Documented, conventional, handed over in full. Your in-house team can pick it up without an archaeology phase.

    • We stay past launch

Monitoring, fixes and the next round of improvements. Release day is a checkpoint, not an exit.
